Georgia’s first critical task was helping the couple navigate the increasingly expensive European wedding market. With venue prices in France and Italy having "doubled or tripled" during their planning hiatus, a candid conversation about budget was essential. She then guided them through an imaginative exercise, asking them to describe their dream destination wedding qualities: a place they’d visited, rich in history, architecturally stunning, offering a modern, wheelchair-accessible resort for guests within walking distance, and conveniently located a mere 30 minutes from an international airport with direct flights from major U.S. cities like New York, Atlanta, and D.C. We were surprised it had not entered our minds prior, to be honest."

The couple made two crucial trips to Portugal: an initial "gut-check" visit to confirm their venue choices, followed by a second for menu tastings and final vendor discussions. The venue’s inherent beauty was a given, but its layout offered an invaluable advantage. "The layout of the spaces could not have worked better for the vision we had of ushering people throughout the afternoon and evening, keeping them surprised and entertained," Taylor notes.

Their welcome dinner was hosted at Casa Dos Penedos, a charming pink mansion on the resort’s property, its historic cobblestones leading guests to a delightful evening. The main wedding day unfolded around the monastery complex. The ceremony itself, officiated by a close friend, was set within the breathtaking Nuncio Gardens—a 16th-century monastic garden featuring ivy-clad stone walls, ancient archways, and a serene shallow reservoir, creating an atmosphere of timeless romance.
